We are approaching the end of the closed period for spreading slurry and farmyard manure and from the 1st of February farmers will be able to spread both chemical ad organic fertiliser again.
Where a person of any age leases his or her land for a
period of 5 years or more some or all of that income may be exempt from income
tax.
The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney TD, and the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan TD, today announced that the review of Ireland’s 2nd Nitrate Action Programme has been concluded and a revised 3rd Programme has been finalised. This 3rd Programme will run until the end of 2017.
Any farmer that is farming under a Nitrates Derogation system as part of the scheme has to submit their fertilizer and meal records to the Nitrates section in Johnstown Castle before the 31st of March 2014.
With the spreading period open and as soil temperatures will soon be starting to rise, the spreading of fertilizer is not far away and with that in mind prices have started to rise.
The Forestry Service are informing farmers who have lands planted in Forestry and who receive premiums that you can apply on line for 2014 annual Forestry premium from the 19th November 2013
